Custom Surfboards

CUSTOM SURFBOARDS

I initially started shaping 10 years ago because the types of boards I wanted to try were not available locally.

The idea, for a long time, was to do ding repairs for the local surf community and a local surf shop to finance building boards for myself. I have made about 30 boards for myself to test, surf and tweak. Fishes, Mini Simmons, Midlengths, Longboards all built with my own surf level and the Northsea conditions in mind.

This allowed me to progressively build up experience.

Along the way, friends started surfing my own boards and started asking me for customs.

As the word spread, I started getting custom orders from people I don't know. The positive feedback I was getting from good surfers, made me step up my game.

My main purpose is to share my stoke about board building and to help my customers surf their magic board in accordance with their surf skills, conditions at their local surf break and esthetical preferences.

Materials

It is my experience there is a lot of misunderstanding within the surf community about this subject.

During the last 10 years, I have been experimenting with most materials used in the surfboard industry.

I experimented with Polyurethane foam, Extruded Polystyrene and Balsa Wood as a core material.

For laminations, I have tested different types of fiberglass in different thickness as well as carbon fibers.

I have also surfed a wide variety of boards in different constructions at local breaks and abroad.

Every type of material and combination of materials has it's advantages and drawbacks.

It is my goal to inform you properly about which materials to chose to build your perfect board.

Shapes

I have experienced throughout the years that having a diverse quiver and a variety of different types of boards maximizes the amount of time spent in the water. Especially in our own little North Sea. The day I started surfing longboards made me realize I could have heaps of fun in waves I would not even consider surfing with my shorter boards.

I do not have specific surfboard models. However, I have a variety of templates to play with ranging from 5 to 10 foot, which can all be tweaked. I have tested many different types of rocker, rail and bottom contours in our local waves and understand which shape works in what type of waves.

During an open discussion, evaluating your skill level, your preferences and style and the type of waves you surf, we can discover which board suits you best.

Repairs

REPAIRS

After at least 10 years building experience repairing surfcraft, I have done and seen it all. Broken noses, broken boards, snapped glass on fins, popped-out finboxes, ripped-out leashplugs,... I have repaired surfboards, windsurfboards, kitesurfboards, SUP boards and foilboards in every type of construction and material. Epoxy, polyester, carbonfibre, glassfibre, PU, EPS and sandwichconstruction.
My aim is always to get as close to the initial construction of the board to avoid compromising the weight and structrural integrity of the board.
You will get your board back as you once purchased it, to be enjoyed for many more years to come.
